Write to serve: In the belly of earth

September 18-21, 2025

Write to Serve: In the Belly of Earth blends creative expression with stewardship and reverence for the natural world. Participants will engage in:


  • Nature journaling as a tool for reflection and connection 
  • Stewardship in support of public lands
  • Guided writing sessions and meditative moments underground
  • Community connection through shared meals, conversations, and silence


What we provide:

  • Free cave tour
  • Welcome pack with nature journaling supplies
  • Guided nature writing and journaling prompts
  • All meals are provided from Thursday - Sunday


Cost: $295.00 until August 15th 

Regular Price: $375.00


Project Details:

Brush and clear trails at the park to make way for future hikers. 


Itinerary:

We will meet at Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve Visitor Center at 4:30 pm on Thursday, September 18th and caravan to camp. 


Thursday: We'll spend Thursday night introducing ourselves, setting up camp, sharing our first group meal, and preparing for a half-day of service on Friday. 


Friday: Half day of trail clearing from 8:30-12:30, lunch, and half day of wonder--with a cave tour and nature journaling session.


Saturday: We'll start the day with a free-write session from 8:30 to 9:30, clear trail until noon, eat lunch, and continue our service project until 2:30 or 3 pm, depending on the energy of the group.


Sunday: Begin the day with a writing reflection, share as a group, and pack up camp.


Location: Southwest Oregon 

Physicality: 2.5-5 miles of hiking per day
Frontcountry: Tent or car camping

Closest Airport: Medford, Oregon (75 miles away)
